How to Create Daily Planner in ClickUp for Business
Before diving into your daily planner, you’ll want to set up some spaces and lists. ClickUp’s basic organization hierarchy goes spaces, folders, kists. Within lists, you can add different tasks and subtasks.
I have a lot of spaces in my ClickUp because I have a large team and we need that structure to keep everything organized. But if you’re just starting out then it’s best to keep things simple.
Think about what kind of tasks you do regularly and what categories they fall into. You might want to have one list for social media, one for your email newsletter, and one for each ongoing project.
Organizing your Daily Planner in ClickUp
There are a few different ways to organize your ClickUp lists. Each task can be assigned a different “status” and the statuses are fully customizable. In the example below I have statuses set for key info, one-off tasks, and recurring tasks.
If you have a project with multiple phases, you might want to use different statuses for each stage. For my podcast list, the statuses are Up Next, In Progress, With Editor, and Live. Then each episode is moved from status to status until it’s completed.
For even more options, you can add custom fields. Read more about how to organize your business with ClickUp here!
Different Views in ClickUp
You can view any of your lists in a calendar or board format (shown below).
If you’re looking to use ClickUp as a daily planner, you’ll want to use the calendar view. Don’t forget to add a due date to each task so it shows up on your calendar!
I like to work out of the Everything tab (found on the left sidebar) so I can everything that’s happening in my business at a glance.
Another thing I like to do is keep a running list of ideas or “braindump list”. This is where I put reminders, personal things, skills I want to learn, and any future project ideas. I assign each item a month so I know when to revisit it, then sort the list month by month.
A simpler way to do this is to keep a list with just three different statuses:
You can also use ClickUp to organize your personal to-do list. Just create another space or list, and organize your tasks in whatever order you choose. To keep them in chronological order, just click “Group” then “Group by date” and it will automatically reorganize the list.
Another way to do this is to create a status for each day of the week and organize it that way. This might work better for you if you have a lot of repetitive tasks each week, but I prefer to use the group by date method above.
You can also organize your to-do list by category instead of date. For example: self-care, housework and kids. If you work out of the calendar view, you’ll still be able to view things day by day.
One last feature you may want to use in your daily planner is the whiteboard view, which allows you to create flowcharts, post sticky notes, and add tons of other cool features. Play around with it and find something that works for you!
Final thoughts on using ClickUp as a daily planner
The best part about using ClickUp as a daily planner is it keeps all of your tasks in one place. You wake up every morning, open ClickUp, and know exactly what needs to be done that day.

hi, i'm Amanda
Three years ago, I chose to quit my corporate 9-to-5, sold all my belongings, and booked a one-way ticket to Thailand. I had no real plan—just a burning desire to see the world and a bone-deep certainty that there was more to life than my mind-numbing day job.
Since then I have started multiple business ventures including LLCo. which has scaled to over $1 million dollars in 2 years, and has helped hundreds of women from all over the world build profitable online businesses, defy expectations, and create a freedom lifestyle on their terms—no one else’s.
Every day you get to choose again as to how you will live your life - and every defining moment will come down to just that, a choice.
Here’s the thing - your past story, knowledge, and experiences may have shaped you to be where you are now, but they don’t have to define where you go next.
Hey there, I’m Amanda Kolbye. I’m on a mission to help female entrepreneurs acquire business tools & knowledge so they can create generational wealth and a life where you never think “is this it?” In our world, women become unstoppable. In our world, limitless is the only boundary we adhere to.
