Let me tell your a Story… an IG Story!
Stories are my absolute favorite thing about Instagram – if you follow me you’ll know this already cos I make hella stories. In my mind, I’m starring in my own Netflix show (wait.. I’m not crazy!). I’m the star and the director, I get to choose how I present myself and how to captivate my audience. You want people to binge watch you, so think about what gets you glued to your no.1 series.
Wanna be a story-super-star?
Here are my Story-Saviours:
- Get on stories every.damn.day!
- Caption your stories (remember that a huge percentage of people are watching you on mute! Type subtitles yourself, or use an app).
- Host mini-trainings! Check out mine for some inspo and aim to post 3-4 a week. They don’t need to be long and don’t overcomplicate this – just lead with value and talk like you’re chatting with a friend.
HOT TIP! Share a mix of personal and business insights. People buy from people they know, like and trust. Does your audience know you? Can they trust you?
Pretty poll-y!
Polls are the queens of engagement and BONUS, they help you do your market research with ease. Like I said, it’s good to share both personal and business stuff. Polls are a great way to do this – I love making polls as a way to start a conversation.
For example: What should I celebrate with tonight? A margarita or skinny dipping? 😉 It’s fun and people want to engage with it!
When it comes to market research, a poll can tell you a lot about your audience. For example, when you’re planning those cheeky mini-trainings I told you about, you can ask your audience which one they want to see first!
For example: What do you want to see from me? How I grew my Insta to over 4k followers? Or 5 ways to tidy up your finances in 5 minutes.
HOT TIP! Post at least one engagement sticker to your stories per day! That’s a question box, a poll, a quiz or a slider!
Want engagement? Then engage!
Social media is called social media, right? So, are you being social? Genuine comments, connecting in DMs and actively partaking in engagement is the best way to receive connection and engagement. Use voice notes, engage with your tribe on the daily and create an engagement workflow so you can be strategic and consistent with your connections. Don’t just wait for people to come to you. Take control and put yourself in front of those eyeballs and dream clients.
HOT TIP! Have a lead tracker or engagement tracker so you can be intentional about nurturing your audience.
#Hashtag-what-am-I-doing-with-hashtags?
Yo, everyone stresses out about hashtags. Don’t beat yourself up about it, educate yourself about it! Mix up your hashtags, create some alternating sets and check out what’s trending that could get you infront of new audiences.
You can use hashtags to find specific types of people. I.e What is your ideal client looking at? What do they care about? Are they looking at start-up tips? Are they searching for mindset hacks? Meet them where they’re at!

You wouldn’t throw a business card together and fling it out into the world hoping for the best – would you? Ok, so think of your Instagram bio as the perfect business card. It’s accessible to millions of people, so you know… no pressure 😉
Keep your bio on brand, use terminology that you actually say and make sure it tells people exactly how you can help them. Use an ‘I help’ statement if you’re stuck.
For example: My Instagram bio reads – “I help ambitious entrepreneurs start & scale their online business to 6+ figures and live a freedom lifestyle”.
Instantly, you know who I help and what I help them with. BOOM!
HOT TIP! Your link. If you have the capability of creating a ‘Linktree’ style page on your own site, do it! Then you’re in control of your traffic and you can be super strategic about what you point your audience to. For example, if you’re launching you’ll want to put that program/offer/course at the top.
Consistently bringing home the bacon!
Don’t go thinking that any hack/software/tool is going to magically kick-off your Instagram for you. There’s no substitute for consistency, sorry hun.
But, let me make it a little easier for you.🎉⬇️
Here’s your formula for the next 30 days…
- Rewrite your IG Bio using the tips above (for bonus points, head to my Instagram and find the ‘IG Bio’ highlight!)
- Post on your feed 3 times a week (or more!) and include 30 hashtags per post. Check back on those puppies after 48-72hours to see which ones are kicking up a storm!
- Engage with other people’s posts daily (you could even set a timer for just 10-15 minutes a day!) and have at least 2 real conversations in the DMs.
- Post an engagement sticker on your stories at least 4 times a week… and thank me later!
- Jump on stories 5-7 times per week with your own special combo of personal and educational content.
