5 Social Media Post Ideas for Business
1. Educational Posts
Educational posts serve two purposes:
They teach your audience and provide value.
They show your expertise and build authority.
Like I talked about in this post, people need to know, like, and trust you before they purchase from you. One way to build that like factor is to provide value for your audience. Teach them something they don’t know, or show them a new way of looking at things.
Think of these types of posts as a sneak peak of your offers or services. They show a small glimpse into the value you could provide if someone purchased from you–so make sure the information you share is valuable!
Educational posts also position you as an expert–they show you know your stuff! This builds the trust factor, making people more likely to purchase, because they see you as an authority on your subject.
If you’re stuck for ideas, think about how you can educate people on topics within your industry or why they should purchase your services. What do they need to know before purchasing? What kind of benefits does your business provide? Can you make them more money or improve their life? Remember they won’t know unless you tell them!
2. Inspirational Posts
These posts often take the form of, “If I/they can do it, so can you!”
Inspirational posts are more emotion-based; they should evoke feeling in your audience and inspire action. They paint a picture of what is possible (if someone purchases from you!).
Try sharing some motivational content to hype up your audience. Share your own “aha” moments, or a recent accomplishment in your business. Best of all, share the accomplishments of your clients–that they couldn’t have reached without you, of course.
The idea behind these posts is to inspire your audience to take action.
3. Thought Leadership Posts
This type of content is more about sharing your own opinions, even if polarizing. The idea is not to provoke conflict, but to share your honest thoughts on a certain topic (whether that’s industry news, a quote or something more general).
Many people avoid this type of content, but done well it can be one of the most powerful messages you share. These types of posts allow people to connect with you on a deeper level and they show your audience you’re willing to be vulnerable.
Some people might disagree with your opinions, but you will also likely have people that really connect with what you say. At the very least, you made them think and hopefully sparked a discussion!
4. Storytelling Posts
Storytelling is psychologically proven to be one of the most effective marketing methods. Two of the biggest benefits are:
Story-based posts are more memorable.
Personal stories build connection with your audience.
The next time you want to get a certain point across in a post, try infusing a story into it. Think of an experience you or a client had that would encapsulate what this post is about.
The key is remembering not to over polish the story. The more real and raw you are, the more your personality shines through, and the more likely your audience is to connect.
5. Sales and Announcement Posts
Lastly, sometimes you just need to straight up sell! Let your audience know what’s going on with you and your business. And especially make sure you announce key opportunities to purchase (new offers, opening enrollment or waitlists).
While you don’t want this to be the majority of your content, these types of posts are effective–IF you use them in conjunction with the other posts above. No one wants to be sold to 24/7!
Creating sales/announcement posts is usually very straight-forward: share whatever new information you have and how your audience can benefit.

Something tells me you belong here and desire something more.
hi, i'm Amanda
Three years ago, I chose to quit my corporate 9-to-5, sold all my belongings, and booked a one-way ticket to Thailand. I had no real plan—just a burning desire to see the world and a bone-deep certainty that there was more to life than my mind-numbing day job.
Since then I have started multiple business ventures including LLCo. which has scaled to over $1 million dollars in 2 years, and has helped hundreds of women from all over the world build profitable online businesses, defy expectations, and create a freedom lifestyle on their terms—no one else’s.
Every day you get to choose again as to how you will live your life - and every defining moment will come down to just that, a choice.
Here’s the thing - your past story, knowledge, and experiences may have shaped you to be where you are now, but they don’t have to define where you go next.
Hey there, I’m Amanda Kolbye. I’m on a mission to help female entrepreneurs acquire business tools & knowledge so they can create generational wealth and a life where you never think “is this it?” In our world, women become unstoppable. In our world, limitless is the only boundary we adhere to.
